The basic equipment for a dirtbike is your protection. It keeps you from hurting or braking your bones when you crash. It also keeps you from getting hurt from loose rocks or dirt flying around when you are racing or riding with others. The picture to the left is Kevin Windham wearing some of the basic equipment while he is racing in the AMAs. | |
| Some of the equipment, like shown above includes a full face helmet that goes all the way around your head and protects you more than a normal bicycle helmet, goggles, a chest protector that covers your mid-section and your shoulders all of the way down your back, a jersey and pants, and boots. | ![]() ![]() |

The rest of the equipment includes gloves that
are made special for racing, neck protector which is the foam like ring
that you would attach to the underside of your helmet, a wrist guard
that keeps your wrist from getting severely damaged when you would
crash, and shin guards that keep you from damaging your shins when the
bike would fall. Z |
