Most skiers prefer to remain on marked trails, or within the bounds of the groomed snow ski runs. Daredevils like to venture of the trails into more remote areas, in search of solitude and adventure. Extreme, or free skiing, pits the adventurous skier against the mountain itself. Traditional skiing and snowboarding are still the most popular of snow sports.
