In 2001, Ashlee began acting and landing small roles in movies.  In 2002, she landed a small part in her first movie ‘The Hot Chick’ with the comedian actor Rob Schneider.  Also, in 2002 Ashlee landed a big role in ‘7^th Heaven’ and stayed in the show for a few good seasons.  That was definitely her big break.  In 2004 she landed a small role in ‘Raise Your Voice’ with Hilary Duff. 

            Ashlee really wanted to start a singing career though.  Geffen Records signed her to a music deal in 2003 and she began working on her first album immediately.  Her TV show ‘The Ashlee Simpson Show’ was a documentary on making the album.  Her CD ‘Autobiography’ was released at number one and her hit single ‘Pieces of Me’ made number one on the charts.  That is something that not even her sister, Jessica had accomplished.  Ashlee felt as if she wasn’t in her sister’s shadow anymore.

            In 2005 Ashlee’s talent came up a little short when she appeared on the hit TV show ‘Saturday Night Live’ and was caught lip-syncing.  This was probably one of the most embarrassing things that could have ever happened.  The next day everybody was talking about it.  It was on the covers of magazines everywhere, and people had already posted clips of it on the internet.  Most people accused Ashlee of being a fake and a lot of people lost their interest for her.  

            Despite all of the Ashlee’s embarrassing moments she is still an aspiring star.  With her new album coming out ‘I Am Me’ and her first new single ‘Invisible’ I am sure to say that we will be seeing a lot more of Ashlee Simpson.
