Rent is a very creative story. It basically a group of friends who are trying to survive in New York City.  They have to do many things to survive. Most of them have a disease, besides Mark.

There is times when they are hungry, cold, and tired but they never gave up. They would make fires to keep warm whenever there heat got shut off.  None of them have a job except Joanne.  But eventually Mark gets a job. Someone wants to by his footage.

There is many conflicts in the story. Some main ones is the off and on break ups of the couples, the aids just about all the friends have, and their fight  to stay alive in there apartment that they cant pay the rent for. Angel dies in the end of the story , and Mimi comes close to it . The main thing happening in the story is all these people living in Tense City who can not pay their Rent. Benny used to live with them but then he becomes the one who collects their Rent. The whole Tense City hates Benny for quiet a while in the story.

There is many ups and downs in the story. It is basically a reality life style that is taped. The sing, and live their lives just like most New Yorkers. This is probally one of the most inspirational stories in the last decade. The story contains many lessons, and maybe things to do in certain situations. You can learn a lot from this story.  The play and musical are just about the same. 

By the end of the story everything works out like it should. What was meant to happen happens. You can learn a whole lot from this story and the message it gives.
