Mark is one of the main characters in the story. He lives in his apartment mainly with his brother Roger.  Mark doesn’t go anywhere without his camera. He is very caring, helpful, and always tries to make everyone happy.

Roger  lives in his apartment mainly with his brother Mark. He is depressed about a disease that he has and about a girl he loved who died from drugs. He meets a girl later in the story and at first he doesn’t give her a chance, but when he finally does she changes his life completely. 

Mimi lives in the apartment below Mark and Roger. She is a dancer at a club for her job.   She is the girl who changes Roger’s life. She used to date Benny, but now is interested in Roger, which later then end up together.

Benny in the beginning of the story he leaves his roommates then goes against them. Later in the story that all changes, and he goes back with his roommates.  He used to date Mimi. 

Angel is very loving, caring, and inspirational. She and Collins are dating.  She has her own style and she doesn’t care what people think about her. Later in the Story she dies from a disease.

Colins is a very loving friend. He tries to keep everyone together. He is dating angel. From Christmas to summer he comes home and lives with Roger and Mark in the apartment. When he is not living in New York he is trying to prove a theory that he has.

Maureen is dating Joanne. Maureen goes after what she wants. In the story she protest against the Rent cost in there apartments. She used to date Mark.

Joanne is a lawyer who is dating Maureen.  She is the most wealthy person in RENT.
