This is Wayne Gretzky. He is one of the best players of all time. He was a forward. He played center. He is professional hockey’s all time leading scorer.

This is a forward sitting on the bench. After a shift the forwards sit down and rest. The reason they do that is so that they can rest up for the next shift. Since forwards skate so much they need to rest on the bench after each shift.

Here you see two centers at the face off trying to get the puck back to there defensemen’s. The centers are forwards. The centers are the forwards that help out the defensemen the most.

Here you see forwards working on there speed. The forwards are doing sprints. Forwards need good speed to get around the other teams defensemen and get a shot on net and hopefully score. You see them pushing off with the inside of there skate blade to get speed, that is called a stride. The sprints also work on endurance witch helps also.

Here you see forwards switching players on the fly. Witch means they switch players while the play is still going on. In hockey that is what we do we change players during the play. The reason they do this is so that the forwards don’t have to stay out there if there tired and you can get a fresh set of forwards out there and the other team may not of had the chance to change there players so you have fresh forwards against there tired forwards that have been out there for a long time.

Here you see 2 forwards again trying to get the puck off of each other off the face off. They try to get the puck back to one of there defensemen and there defensemen will pass it up to one of the wings.
