When you get your dog ask the previous owners if the dog has gotten his shots and if had gotten spayed or neutered. If they have not taken your dog to the vet. While you are at the vets you should plan a surgery for your dog to get neutered or spayed. You should get this procedure done to your dog so you will not get unwanted puppies. Monthly get a flea killer to put and feed on your dog. Be care ful of hookworms, ask your vet about preventing them. A happy dog is a healthy dog!

Once you get a dog you should first take him or her to pre-school. Pre-school is a socializing class for your pup. This class will help your dog to enjoy the company of others. After pre-school your instructor will guide you and your dog to the next level. It is important to get your dog trained. Depending on your dog, you should take him or her out at least 2 times a day. Periodically put your dog out top do its business. Dogs love exercise.
Normally when you get your dog, the breeder or shelter will recommend a dog food. Buy a little pack because the dog may not agree with the food. After the dog has been on the recommended food, ask the doctor if it's good and healthy for your dog. If there's a healthier food, buy it and introducer it to your dog .
Depending on your dogs fur you should wash them at least once a month. Every once in a while you may take them to the puppy salon. If you wash your dog to much, it's skin will get irritated. Use conditioner when washing your puppy, it will help it's skin. Make sure you or your vet cuts your dogs nails.
When you get your dog, it may decide to chew on something. It shouldn't. You should puppy proof your house before you get your dog. This includes gating him or her in a certain area where it may not find something harmful to chew on. Also, hide electric items. The dog may bite or eat something from it. Your electronics and your new dog will be in serious jeopardy.
