Cleaning your dog’s eyes is very important. Debris Builds up around their eyes, especially for older lab’s because their eyelids are more droopy than younger lab’s . When cleaning their eyes use a moistened cotton ball with tepid salt water. Pat the cotton ball around their eyes. You should do this daily.

 

     
 

Cleaning you dog’s ears is also important too. Healthy ears are supposed to be light pink and clean of discharge and odor. You should check your lab’s ears daily for abnormalities. You can purchase ear cleaner at pet stores that can help prevent dirt from sitting on the ear canal or causing any infections. When cleaning your Lab’s ear for loose debris and dirt. Then wipe out the cleaner with a cotton ball. Allow your lab to shake its head to clear the excess.

 

 
 

If you don’t want your dog to have bad breath then you should clean their teeth. There are toys that can clean your lab’s teeth such as nylon bones, natural sterilized bones, gummy bones. They are available at a pet store. There are also toothbrushes and toothpaste. The toothpaste has a beef or poultry flavor. Never use a human toothbrush. You can get a special toothbrush and toothpaste designed for dogs at pet stores. While brushing their teeth check for redness on their gums swelling or a cracked tooth.

 

  You have to be careful when you cutting your dogs nails. You don't want to cut too far because you may cut into the blood vessels which causes pain to the dog. you can buy some quick stop. Quick stop stops the bleeding right away. when you are cutting your dog's nails you should use a guillotine clipper.
 
  Brushing your lab should be done once a week. There are many brushes. The most necessary one is the wire slicker. the wire slicker. The wire slicker has thin, bent wire pins set in a flexible pad. A slicker brush gets the loose undercoat and topcoat hairs.
 
  Bathing is often not necessary but it still needs to be done two or three times a year. Bathing removes natural oils from the dog's Coat. It also makes it less resistant to weather and dirt. Do not use human shampoo which can be found at a pet sore.
