“ Once upon a time a young prince lived in a castle deep in the forest. He had everything he could ever want, but he was selfish, spoiled, mean, and unkind.” “One night an enchantress, disguised as an old beggar woman, came to the castle. She asked the prince for a place to stay in return she could only offer him a rose as red as blood. The prince sneered at the gift and rejected he offer. She told the prince not to be deceived by appearances, but he still did not let her in. She revealed herself as an enchantress and the prince tried to beg for forgiveness, but she did not forgive him. As punishment for his selfishness she transformed him into a hideous Beast. She placed a curse on the castle and all who lived there.” |

“She told him that when the last petal falls off the enchanted rose, which she gave him, that he will remain a Beast for the rest of his life. The only way to stop the curse from being fulfilled was if he could learn to love another and they could love him in return. Several years went by and so the Beast isolated himself in his castle. Soon he fell into despair, for who could learn to love a beast?” |
