Fishing and surfing Fishing and Surfing are two of the favorite pastimes in LBI. Obviously, most surfing is done in Surf City but there are also other areas at different beaches set aside for them where others can’t swim. Fishing is a very big deal in LBI. You can rent a boat and fish at the bay or during the early and quiet morning on the beach. Fishing is a huge business on this island and restaurants always have fresh fish on the menu. Even if you don’t enjoy fishing or surfing they are both really great things to watch.

Barnegat Lighthouse LBI is greatly known for its extravagant lighthouse. Barnegat was built in 1824, but was built so poorly it needed reconstructed in by 1855. It was first open and used in 1859 and is still open for visitors today. Barnegat Lighthouse is obviously located in Barnegat Light. It stands at the end of the island in the state park. Tourists can walk around and enjoy the view or they can climb to the top of Barnegat. There are many windows within the lighthouse and the view just gets better and better as you climb even further the higher up you go. |

The sand dunes (pictured at the left) were man made in order to preserve the island. LBI is still gradually getter more narrow each year. |
