Surf City Surf city is obviously the beach for surfers. This beach isn’t only for those who surf though. Like the other beaches, there is also a basketball court and a playground. Surfers must swim in a designated area where others don’t swim. It’s such a nice sight to see and it’s very entertaining. Like Brant Beach, Surf City also has a popular yacht club. Surf City has a year-round population of only 1,400 people but is a huge hit with the tourists in the summer. The season starts from around May 31 through Labor Day.

About the Island Long Beach Island is only 18 miles long. It is right off the coast of New Jersey and a great vacation spot. Its nickname is “six miles at sea because it is only about 4 to 6 miles out from the mainland. It was founded in 1614. Later on, in 1886, a railway was built because the only access to the island was by boat. The railroad didn’t last very long and was destroyed in a bad storm. Today, the causeway is used to reach the island. |

| There are 20 communities in LBI. Most are either boroughs or a part of the Long Beach Township. It is a very relaxing island in which almost everything in each community can be accessed just by walking there. The population for year-round residents is only about 20,000 people. It is only a quarter of a mile wide. It is so narrow that if you stand on the side walk and look to your right you can see the beach and to the right, you can see the bay. It’s a very pleasant area. |
