Roberto Clemente was born August 18, 1934 and died December 31, 1972. Roberto Clemente played for the Pittsburgh Pirates as a right fielder for 18 years. Other than his great bat he is known for his cannon for an arm and his basket catches. He was MVP of the 1971 World Series, won 4 N.L. batting titles, 12 time all-star, won 12 gold gloves, had a hit in every game of the 1960 & 1971 World Series, and hit his 3,000 hit in 1972. Which from a tragic death would be his last game and last hit of his career.

Cal Ripken Jr. Of “Ironman” was born in 1960. He was on the Baltimore Orioles for 21 years. He was rookie of the year 1982, A.L. MVP 1983, 1991 and Gold Glove winner in 1991, 1992. He was the tallest full time shortstop at 6'4". Also he started 17 all-star games, has the most home runs than any other shortstops, and owns the highest single-season fielding percentage for a shortstop. Finally, Cal Ripken Jr. holds a phenomenal record that may never be broken with 2.632 consecutive games played. |

Mickey Mantel is a great contact hitter, but the fact that he hit a 634 ft. monster bomb home run for the New York Yankees against the Detroit Tigers in Briggs Stadium in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A., on September 10, 1960. This hit was not just a long home run but the longest ever recorded in MLB history. Finally he is in the Hall of Fame now and always will be. |
