Connor Oberst is the lead singer and the only constant member of Bright Eyes. He recorded his first album at 12 and tagged the name "Rock Boy Genius". He grew up  in Nebraska with his mom, brother, and father. His first band released 2 albums and was called "Commander Venus". At the same time he was making a solo tape called "water". Then Commander Venus broke up and he formed his steady project "Bright Eyes".

Connor main influences were and still are his brother Matt, Mike Mogis who is playing in his Band, and Tim Kasher. Tim Kasher sings and writes sons for the band Cursive. Growing up in Nebraska he had a good childhood, he had a nice dad, a awesome mom, and his brother. Though Nebraska is very depressing, this helped him in writing his songs.

Connor has had a very long career for only being 25 he has been performing since around 11. He was in a few bands within the years including his solo career as a side project from his other band Commander Venus, and Park Ave, Only for a little amount of time. He has sang and wrote for another band under Saddle Creek called desperacidos, who's cd came out a few years ago, and finally to Bright Eyes in which he's currently working on.
