Randy Johnson A.K.A. the "Big Unit" was born on September 10, 1963 in Walnut Creek , California. Standing 6'10", he is the tallest player in MLB history, and is an intimidating presence on the mound. Randy is a left-hander and has a side-arm throwing motion. He is known as one of the hardest throwing pitchers of his era. His pitch repertoire includes a fastball, slider, changeup, and sinker. His slider is his best pitch and may be the best of any lefty ever. |
| Johnson has a very good reputation as a dominating pitcher. He has won 3 Cy Young Awards (1995, 1999, 2000) and played in 8 All-Star games. Randy is regarded as one of the best pitchers of the 90's decade. He has over 4,000 strikeouts, 200 wins, and one of the best sliders ever. He struggled early on in his career but developed into a great pitcher by his mid 20's. His slider would devastate batters leaving wondering what happened. Randy dominated hitters completely and could control a whole game. He was a valuable asset to each team he played for. |

Randy was always on the tall side growing up and always had natural ability toward baseball. His ability got him a lot of recognition in high school and he got a full scholarship to University of Southern California. Randy was drafted by the Expos in 1986. He only spent a few seasons with them and was traded to the Seattle Mariners where he won his first Cy Young Award. The he went to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He currently pitches for the New York Yankees and is one of only a few pitchers in MLB history to win a Cy Young Award in both leagues. Randy is highly respected and considered one of the all-time greatest southpaws. |
