There are six main positions in the sport of volleyball. There is the setter, back row, middle hitters, power hitters, weak hitters, and the libero.

Setter The setter is usually the captain of the team. The number one rule in volleyball is the setter always has the second hit. His/her job is to use an over head pass to put the ball where the hitters can hit best. If you do not have a good setter your tram will struggle greatly.

Back Row Players Back row players main job is to dig up balls and make good passes to the setter. Back row is probably the toughest position ever even though there are two or three people at a time. Good, strong passes is the key to setting up good sets which in the end could lead to strong hits or kills.

Middle Hitters Middle hitters are one of the front row hitters. They play in the front at the middle of the net. Middle hitters usually are not very good passers. They are really tall and hit the ball extremely hard. Also they need to be very good at blocking.
Power Hitters Power hitters play on the left side of the net. They are also tall and hit extremely well. They also need to block and pass occasionally. Usually right handed as well.

Weak Hitters Weak hitters play on the right side of the net. They do not hit as well as the middle and the power hitters, but they still hit fairly well. If the setter makes the first pass the weak hitter then has the setting responsibilities. They are usually left handed. |

Libero The libero is basically a back row specialist. the libero wears a different color jersey than the rest of the team. They sub out the the middle hitters when they get to the back row. They are exceptional passers. |
