My Chemical Romance went on a new tour in year 2004, where Gerard would finally admit to his addictions after not remembering and entire week. That week, he had also had made phone calls to a fellow friend back home talking about killing himself and being suicidal. He came back home in hysterics not believing how out of hand it had gotten. He quit cold turkey. After quitting, in 2004, they released their second album “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”. At first they had only had the album out for one month when the sales from the old record were doubled by the new! Sales absolutely soared when the hit single “Helena” was released. They re-released the first single on the second album “I’m not okay” and again the sales heaved. After being on the charts for 52 non-consecutive weeks at number 30 and had been all the way up to number 22, sales went past one million dollar. They received a platinum record in 2005.  Also in 2005, they were nominated in MTV’s VMA awards.

After all of the sale jumping they went back on tours. On these tours Frank Iero quickly bonded with all the other guys. All of the guys had officially become friends and were ‘like a family’. In this ‘family’ everyone has been hurt or been in an accident. Meaning every person in the band has had a visit to the ER because of another band member. Being a hyper band and all, this was expected and they don’t hold grudges. Also, many guitars and microphones have been busted. The most recent damage was a guitar called “pansy”, this was broken on the tour by the lead singer Gerard Way.

They are currently Signed with Warner Bros.. They have had two official videos.  The breaking video was “Helena”, about the Way brothers’ dead grandmother who inspired them greatly. “Ghost of you” was the other video. Along with these videos, they released “life on the murder scene”. This is a documentary/biography video of every abdn member. This lets them discuss with their cult like fans all of the things they have been through and the things they still want to do. Supposedly, they are having a new record come out in the summer of ’06. 

Now to the fans! This band is kind of anew way to obsess! Most of the fans are extremely devoted to them. They believe they are a love ‘em or hate ‘em kind of band. According to My Chemical Romance they only want to make music to make a difference in someone’s life. Most people who like this band are hardcore!
