Walt Disney: The Man Behind the Magic

      Walt was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5, 1901.  Shortly after , Walt and his family moved to Marceline, Missouri.  He had a love for art ever since he was a little kid and his mom and brother, Roy, always supported him. 
 

In 1918, Walt enlisted for the military.  Rejected for his age, Walt joined the Red Cross and was sent to France. 

 

  When Walt returned from France, He started a company called, “Laugh-o-grams”, but it went out of business because of bankruptcy.  All Walt had left was a suitcase and $20.00.  Walt became famous with his “Alice Comedies” shortly after that.   
  On July 13,1925, Walt married his former employee, Lillian Bounds.  They lived in Idaho.  Later, they had 2 daughters, Dianne and Sharon.  Then, in 1932 Walt received an Academy Award for his production, "Flowers and Tree
  Then, Walt was on a train with his brother, Roy Disney, and a new figure came into his life.  His name was "Mortimer Mouse".  This was the first "Mickey Mouse".  The name was changed, but the character stayed.  Mickey/Mortimer made Walt Disney's Career soar.  Later, Walt continued and made the classics that we all know and love such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Dumbo, Pinocchio, Bambi, and Fantasia.  Then Walt Disney's dreams came true when Walt Disneyland was created.  Walt died in 1966 during the construction of Walt Disney World.
