Lacrosse

A high school lacrosse game is generally 48 minutes long, with four 12 minute quarters.  Each team is given a two minute break between the first and second quarters, and the third and forth quarters.  Halftime players are given ten minutes.

There are two types of fouls personal and technical fouls. Personal fouls are those of a serious nature: illegal body checking, slashing, cross-checking, tripping, and unnecessary roughness. The penalty of a personal foul is suspension from the game for one to three minutes.  Technical fouls are those of a less-serious nature than personal fouls.  Some examples are crease violations, holding, and offside.  The penalty is a 30-second suspension of player or awarding of the ball to the team fouled.
The size of a lacrosse field is 110 yards long.  The goals are set out 15 yards from the end line.  The goals are 6ft. wide and 6ft. high.  The goal has a crease around it which is a nine inch radius.

A player’s stick must meet certain requirements also.  An attack or midfielders stick must be an overall length of 40-42 inches. A defender’s stick must be an overall length of 52-72 inches.  The head of the stick must be 6.5 inches wide and 10 inches long, except the goalies stick which may be 10-12 inches wide.

Buddy is a type of stringing that has the hold and feel of a traditional stringing with a lesser amount of weight.

Pita is also another type of stringing that has the look and feel of a traditional stringing.  It allows for the fastest shot and hardest pass.

Soft mesh is the type of stringing to get a nice forming pocket.  It requires some maintenance.  It is easy to keep control of the ball.

The channel pocket stringing gives the player more ball control.  The channel allows for the most accurate shooting and most precise passing.

Traditional stringing is an old school type of stringing which allows for one of the highest velocity shots.  However, this type of stringing requires more maintenance.
