Infielders and Pitchers

This paragraph is about David Wright. He is one of the best third basemen in the league. He can hit for average and for power. He is rapidly becoming one of the best players in the game and one of the most productive hitters at his position and he is only 23 years old. He is probably the best Mets third basemen in many years. He is also going to be the face of the franchise for the next 10 to 15 years.

Carlos Delgado is one of the best left-handed power hitters in the league. He played for the Florida Marlins but was traded to the Mets this off-season. If the Mets win the N.L. East , he will be a big part of it. He has exceptionally strong hands and is a lift hitter. He is not the greatest fielder in the world, but he isn’t the worst. He has more problems moving to his right than his left. His hands are adequate. He has regressed as a fielder. At this stage of his career, he would be better as a DH.

This article is about Tom Glavine. He is one of the greatest pitchers of all time. He is a prototypical finesse pitcher with an exceptional feel for his craft. He has total command of the strike zone and knows how to set up hitters. He needs to win 25 games in the 2006 season to reach 300 wins for his career. Preparation, instincts, and experience allow Glavine to win despite declining stuff.

Aaron Heilman graduated from Logansport (IN) High School. Aaron went to the university of Notre Dame. He compiled a 43-7 record with a 2.49 ERA in his four seasons with the Irish. He is one of only 15 Division 1 players to reach 40 wins. He was named the National Freshman of the Year. He was also named Big East’s pitcher of the year in 2000 and 2001. He was drafted by the NY Mets in 2001.

He is as exciting as any Mets player other than Darryl Strawberry. If Reyes ever develops a batting eye comparable to John Olerud, he’ll have a .500 on-base percentage. In 2005, he scored 99 runs and drove in 58. His speed causes errors, his arms and hands don’t commit too many – 18 in 1,396 innings
