Moe was the bossy Stooge. He was the Stooge that was the leader. Without Moe, we would not have heard such insults like “Hardboiled Egghead” and “Hot Airedale”. Also the term wise guy was a Moe favorite, and without him no one today could use it in the same manner as Moe did. During his Stooge career, Moe had over one hundred insults. |

Moe Howard was born on June 8, 1897, in Brooklyn, New York. He was one of five kids, including fellow Stooges Shemp and Curly. Moe’s favorite Stooge short was the 1940 hit short, “You Nazty Spy, in which Moe portrayed German leader Adolf Hitler. Moe Howard portrayed Hitler perfectly because of his gritty attitude and his harsh respect of others. Although, he could never have done what Hitler did because he was Jewish. |

Moe was the most romantic Stooge on television and off of it. In his real life Moe was married to Helen Schonberger in 1925. Over the span of their marriage they had two children; daughter Joan and son Paul. The tow never divorced and lived together forever. Sadly, in June 1975, Moe Howard died after a fight with lung cancer. |
| Moe was often labeled as the tough Stooge, always bullying and hurting and hurting the others. Although, actually, Moe was on the receiving end a whole lot too. In on short, Moe was knocked off a ladder, shoved under water in a bucket, poked with the handle of a mop, shot in the scalp, smashed into a wall, nailed with ten tacks, shot in the rear-end with nails, and forced to swallow a pile of tacks. Do you get the picture? Moe truly will live forever as a Stooge. |

| Vernon Dent was not a Stooge, but he was a regular guest. He appeared in over 56 Stooge shorts, plus a few remakes. His rules were unlimited form doctors, to policemen, to robbers, and many more. Vernon Dent was born in 1895. He died in 1963, after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Dent could be silly, boastful, tough, and bashful. Even tough he was not considered a Stooge; he was still a major part of America’s favorite comedy group of all time. |

After Shemp died from a heart attack, Moe and Larry had to choose a third Stooge. They settled on Joe Besser. Joe was born on August 12, 1907, in St. Louis. Before coming to the Stooges, Joe was a Broadway star. Even though Joe Besser was not an original Stooge, he will always be remembered as one. |

He was married to Erna Kretschen in 1932. Joe made sixteen short films with the Stooges. His favorite film was the 1958 one: “Flying Saucer Daffy”. In this film, Joe was a professional photographer. He takes a picture of something, but he does not know what he shot. His cousins, Moe and Larry, steal the photo and portray it as a flying saucer. Later in his life, when the Stooges got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Joe was there. The beloved Joe Besser died on March 1, 1988 after suffering heart complications. He was 80 years old. |
