Most of the racers today use 2 strokes because there faster and there made for jumping because they have suspension made for jumping. There is a list of bikes that people use for racing today.

This is a picture of a Ktm 250 ex. A lot of the racers now a days use Ktm's because there made with such good quality and it's one of the best kind dirt bikes out there today. Also they last a real long time. That�s why a lot of people rely on Ktm's dirt bikes.

Here is another picture of a Ktm. Most Ktm�s are mostly 2 strokes but there are some 4 strokes. This picture is taken at a 250 moto of all the top racers. If you want to race a Ktm it�s a great bike because it�s made with such good quality and it can do things other bikes can�t do.

4 strokes may be taking over racing because 2 strokes are getting old ,but 2 strokes are still the best when it comes to work on engine maintenance. However bad parts on 2 strokes effect 2 strokes more than 4 strokes. 2 strokes I think are worse than 4 strokes because 4 strokes don't run as fast as 2 strokes which makes less maintenance.
