About Rachael

Where was Rachel before she became famous?

The Ray Family was involved in the food business.  They also owned their own restaurant in Cape Cod in Massachusetts.  Rachael’s food career began when she got a job as a candy counter girl at Macy’s Marketplace.  She then helped start a gourmet market where she was the manager and buyer.  She decided that she wanted to leave the city and return to the Cape.

There at Sagamore Resort on Lake George, she managed many more pubs and restaurants.  While Rachael was there she got many job offers.  A large gourmet restaurant wanted Rachael to be its food buyer.  She accepted by turning it into dual positions as chef and food buyer.  To increase sales, Rachael started teaching a cooking class called “30 Minute Meals.”  It became so popular that an Albany, NY television station asked her to do a weekly TV show about 30 minute meals for the evening news.  The show was a major success and Rachael sold over 10,000 30 minute meal cookbooks.  She now has 2 other shows on the Food Network: “$40 a Day” and “Tasty Treats.”

 Rachael Got Married!

Rachael Ray and John Cusimaro were announced husband and wife in the middle of Italy.  Rachael’s first word was “Vino," meaning wine.  And John’s first word was “More.”  If you put their first words together, you get “More wine!”  So they got married in Italy.  From Rachael’s point of view, it was the most beautiful wedding that she could have dreamed.  There were views of the amazing Italy  everywhere.  Rachael and John promised each other that on every anniversary they would go back to Italy to celebrate.

Rachael and John thought it was a good idea to give party favors to all of their guests.  When the guests entered their hotel rooms, there was a flight bag, a bottle of Velona red wine, personalized playing cards with Rachael and John’s picture on the back, an Italian music CD, and a tour guide book.  Wow!  Everyone was very thankful for the generous party favors.

As you know, Rachael is a chef on TV.  John is also a chef.  He doesn’t have a TV show, but he does work at restaurants.  The two of them cooked the meal at their wedding.  They could not decide what to serve on their big day.  They decided to serve all of their possibilities:  stuffed eggplant, artichoke flan, and Papa al Pomodoro and of course lots of wine.  “Italy was wonderful.” Rachael said to her new husband.
