World War II was a terrible war that lasted over six years.  This war was fought between two sides the Axis and the Allies.  The Axis consisted mainly of the Germans and the Japanese but their were many other countries on the Axis side.  The Axis where the people who were fighting to eliminate the Jewish people.  The Allies which consisted mainly of the Americans, the British, and the Russians.  The Allies where the people who were fighting to defeat the Axis and defend the Jewish people.
