Rock is a very popular style of music. It origins are with jazz and blues music of the 20s and 30s but it didn’t truly form until the50s and it was called rock n’ roll. In the 60s there was Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead but the 70s saw the birth of true modern rock.
	KISS and Led Zeppelin was the two bands who probably contributed the most to rock along with Jimi Hendrix in the 60s. In the 80’s, rock split in two. One went on to form a “harder” form of rock called heavy metal and one stayed basically the same. Most contributions to modern rock and heavy metal were made in the 80s. In the 90s there was grunge rock and metal’s popularity diminished. Who knows what the future will hold for rock.
