Gene Simmons was born Gene Kleine in Israel in 1949 and moved to America when he was 9 years old. He is also the driving force behind one of the greatest rock bands of the 1970s. He is known for his fantastic stage shows such as spitting fire and for his face make up which his other band mates also wore until the mid 1980s. He is probably the most famous bassist ever.
  Cliff Burton is one of the most reputed and famous bassists ever partially because of his mysterious death in 1985. He died when his tour bus crashed in Europe and rolled over him crushing and killing him. He was the bassist for a group named Metallica. After his death they never quite recovered the passion they had before his death.  
  LemmyKillmister was born in the U.K. as the son of a church vicar.He formed his band Motorhead in 1976. They were not like other musicians, they were mean dirty and fast. He is the lead bassist and lead vocalist. Also Motorhead is still a very popular band, still selling out shows in concerts around the world.
  Geddy Lee is considered to be the best bassist in the world based soley on talent. He was born in Canada the son of Polish immigrants. He is the bassist for a band named Rush. He is also the vocalist and keyboardist of Rush. He is very talanted man.
  Steve Harris is one of the most well known bassists of the 1980s. He is in a band named Iron Maiden. He is also the founder of Iron Maiden being the only member to stay in the band for its whole lifespan. He is also the primary songwriter for Iron Maiden.
