Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born on April 24, 1982. Kelly was born in Burleson, Texas. She originally aspired to be a marine biologist until her junior year of high school. The choir teacher heard Kelly sing and immediately asked her to join the school choir. After she joined the choir she started landing important roles in the school plays. Some of the major plays she had  a role in were, " Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," and "Brigadoon." After she graduated in 2000 Kelly tried getting into the music business. Finally her friend talked her into trying out for American Idol.

The judges loved Kelly's first performance and from there on she was at the top of the list. Finally on September 4th, 2002 Kelly won the first American Idol competition by fifty- eight percent of the audience's vote. The first song she sang that night, after winning, was "A Moment Like This."

After Kelly won American Idol she was starring in her very own movie, "From Justin to Kelly," released in April 2003. Then on April 15th, 2003 her first album, "Thankful," was released. On November 30th, 2004 her second album, "Breakaway," was released.
