   Carrie Marie Underwood was born on March 10,  1983. Carrie was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and she was raised on a farm in Checotah, Oklahoma. Carrie graduated in 2001 from Checotah High School. She attended Northeastern State University, where she majored in mass communication. She was also a member of a Sigma Sorority. Carrie also competed in numerous beauty pageants at the university. She was selected as Miss NSU runner- up in 2004. 

    

 On April 20, Carrie demonstrated her ability to play the guitar. The judges were very impressed by this. Some of the songs Carrie sang include "Independence Day" and "Alone." These songs helped her climb to the top in the competition, because she sang them extremely well. The last song she sang was "Angles Brought Me Here." On May 25, 2005 Carrie became the forth American Idol Winner.

    

 Carrie's album "Some Hearts" was released on November 15, 2005. She also started ads for Hershey's chocolate in 2005. She is the latest spokes person for Sketchers shoes.
