There are many types of sharks and they all are very different. There are over 350 species. The most popular and feared shark is the Great White Shark because of all the teeth and attacks on people but it really doesn’t like to eat people, it just mistakes people swimming for seals. The largest shark there is shouldn’t be feared though, it is harmless and very gentle like most whales, this is the Whale Shark. On the other hand sharks can be very small, like the pigmy shark to the left. Most sharks can be about this size especially considering only 36 species of the 350 grow to be over 10 feet. Sharks come in many different sizes and types. |
| Sharks seem to be a much feared animal but you shouldn’t worry. Only an average of 100 people are attacked each year and some are provoked attacks such as a human trying to trap, spear, or capture the shark. Not many sharks attack either, only about 27 types have recorded attempts to attack a human being. When sharks do attack it’s in a crowded beach type environment with about waist-deep warm water. The sharks to fear are the Great White, with the most recorded attacks on humans. The second most dangerous shark is the Blacktip Reef Shark then third is the Bullshark. A shark you have probably heard of is the hammerhead shark who lurks in water only three feet deep at times and he can be quite big so watch out! |
