In 2005, Carrie Underwood was the winner of American idol season 4.

 
 

Early Years

Carrie Underwood was born March 10, 1983 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and was raised on a farm in Checotah. She began singing at church in 1986 and in 1997, she recorded her first CD in Nashville. In 2001, she graduated from Checotah Highschool and then attended Northeastern State University where her major was in mass communications. In 2003, she was elected secretary of her sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma. Carrie competed in many beauty pageants at her university and in 2004, she was elected as Miss NSU runner up.   

 
   

The Final Round

In 2004, Carrie Underwood, a 21- year- old went to St. Louis to audition for American Idol. Now she is waiting patiently with Bo Bice to see which one is the next American Idol.

 
 

On Tuesday, three hours before the final round, there were hundreds of people wearing T-shirts and holding up signs to support Bo and Carrie. The newspaper poll said Carrie would win, but the web said Bo would. So nobody knew for sure who would be the real winner. Then the show began and the tension was heavy, yet, everyone was cheering, shouting out, and singing along as both singers sang. Millions of people voted for their idol and hoped they would win, but they weren’t sure who would really win. Then the minute America’s been waiting for had come when Ryan Seacrest announced “The new American Idol is .....Carrie Underwood!” there were balloons, confetti, and excitement everywhere. Carrie Underwood was the first country singer to sing in the competition.

 
 

 

Interesting Facts

                     After winning American Idol, Carrie said she will still stick with singing country and that she wants people to think of her as a nice person.

 
 

 

                     Carrie released her new CD ‘Some Hearts’ on November 15.  

 

                     She sang with her favorite band ‘Rascal Flatts’ during the competition.

 
 

 

                     Carrie is portraying in magazine articles for Hershey’s and Skechers. She is happy about doing the job because she gets free chocolate and shoes.

 

                     She loves animals.

 
 

                     Carrie is the youngest of three sisters.

 

            Carrie’s wish of becoming the next American Idol came true.
