In 1991 the Pittsburgh Penguins made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. This was the Pittsburgh Penguins first Stanley Cup ever. This young Penguins team went up against the Minnesota North Stars. The Penguins knew if they wanted to win the Stanley Cup they would have to beat and out skate this mean Minnesota team.

The Minnesota North Stars also knew if they wanted to win the Stanley Cup they would have to beat and out skate the young and fast Penguins team. The North Stars and the Penguins came out skating hard. Both teams were very determined to win game 1 and get a quick start to win the Stanley Cup. The game was even the whole game neither team would stop skating hard. The young Pens and hard hitting North Stars would not give up. Sadly though after this tough and rough first game the North Stars were victorious and took game # 1 in the series beating the Penguins 5-4.

| The Penguins knew they needed a win or else the North Stars would take a 2 game lead. The Penguins did great in game 2 making sure that the North stars could not win game 2. The Penguins cycled low and maintained puck control the whole game. This lead to a Penguins victory the final score of the game was Penguins 4 North Stars 1 |
| This series was now tied 1-1 then game # 3 came and the North Stars took the lead in the series by beating the Penguins by a score of 3-1. Once again the Penguins were down in the series they needed to win if they wanted to become victorious and win the Stanley Cup |

Finally, though the Penguins began to break through. Winning 3 games in arrow against Minnesota North Stars the Penguins won 4 games and swept the North Stars for the Stanley Cup. Game 4 the Pens beat the North Stars 5-3. Game 5 the Pens swept the North Stars 6-4. Game 6 the Pittsburgh Penguins shut-out the North Stars 8-0 and won the Stanley Cup!
