Last year the Steelers fell short one game to the New England patriots. (They eventually won the super bowl) This year things appeared different, the Steelers are the first six seed and only team to beat the three(3) top seeded teams in the division to make I to the Super bowl. They also seem to love the role as underdog, keeping all teams under twenty points and no scoring over 21 point in all games.

Steelers vs. Bengals It seems like luck has been on the Steelers side. The second play from scrimmage against the Bengal’s , the Steelers, Kimo Von Oelhoffen coming off a block landed on Bengal’s quarterback Caron Palmer’s knee tearing his ACL and MCL and knocking him out of the game. The Bengal’s offense was not as efficient without Palmer and the Steelers ended up winning 31-17.

Steelers vs. Colts Going into Indianapolis, the Steelers were ten (10) point underdogs. But, on the Steelers first two possessions they scored two touch downs. One of the plays was to Antwan Randle El and the other was to Heath Miller. Later in the game the Colts offense came alive coming to within ten (10) points of the Steelers. But then things got very nerve racking when Troy Palamalu picked off a Payton Manning pass and it was over turned. Then when the Steelers got to Peyton Manning for a sack on the two (2) yard line, on the next play, Jerome Bettis lost the ball on a fumble and the Colts corner back, Nick Harper, picked it up and ran back to the 42 yard line, where Benn Roethlisburger made a great tackle. But, in the end Mike Vanderjagts, 46 yard field goal was wide, right, and the Steelers won the game 21-18.

Steelers vs. Seahawks The Steelers went into the Super Bowl three point favorites. They came out eleven point winners beating Seattle 21-10. Things got off to a slow start for the offense going three and out their first four drives. But at the end of the second quarter the Steelers went into half time leading 7-3. The third quarter started off with a boom when Willie Parker ran 75 yards for a touchdown longest in Super Bowl history. On first and ten from the Seattle 43 yard line, on a reverse Randle El threw a 43 yard touch down pass to Hines Ward that made the score 21-10 and that was the last score by either team the rest of the game. The MVP of this game was Hines Ward he had a total of 132 receiving yards. So Steeler fans finally got that on for the thumb and Jerome will retire a very happy man.
