Behind the Scenes of
Gilmore Girls

Here are some quick details about Lauren. She is currently 38 years old. Her full name is Lauren Helen Graham. Her birthday is on March 16, 1968. Her height is exactly 5 feet 9 inches. She was born to Donna Grant and Lawrence Graham in the most beautiful place in the world, Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents were divorced when she was five years old, when her mother decided to move to London to pursue a singing/ rock-n-roll career. After that she and her father moved to northern Virginia where her dad worked as the President of the chocolate manufacturer’s Association, and where she grew up. Lauren earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Barnard College in New York. She then transferred to Texas to earn a Master’s in Acting at Southern Methodist University. After that she returned to New York where she worked as a cocktail waitress and an aspiring actress. In 1995 she moved to Hollywood to continue her goal to become an actress. Although Lauren was raised as an only child she actually has three-half siblings. The oldest of which is 16 years younger than she is. Her religion is Irish Catholic and her ancestry is black Irish, which just means that she is Irish and has black hair.

Graham isn’t like every other Hollywood actor or actress because she doesn’t go around with millions of men and have 70 public relationships. In fact Graham has been quoted. “ I’ve made out more this season on a family-friendly show than ever in my actually life.” (Us Weekly: Oct 23, 2000) This is because of the fact that our friend Lauren has had no “real” relationships. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California where is always working on a project but mainly her hit, leading role show, Gilmore Girls. Speaking of Gilmore Girls your probably interested on how she landed the role. She got the role by her incredible experience before hand, and her killer smile.

Did you know that she wrote a book called Sampson’s Titanic Journey. Prior to Gilmore Girls she and her once co-star Scott Cohen both appeared on Law and Order. Also co-star Scott Patterson both made appearances on Seinfeld. Graham and Patterson, in real life, do not get along. Lauren has started her own production company, Good Game, which opened in 2003. It takes her an hour to blow-dry her hair straight because it is naturally curly. She says that her role as Lorelei Gilmore is her sexiest ever. She skipped kindergarten because she could read at age 4. She was a tomboy. And her grandparents think that she should be on Friends.

Lauren Graham was very successful even before she landed her role on Gilmore Girls. She’s starred in the independent films, “Seeing other people,” and “Dill Scallion,” which aired on VH1. Her latest movies were “the Pacifier opposite Vin Diesel and Jeff Bridges in “The Moguls.” Other films include Bad Santa, One true thing, Sweet November, and her very first film Night watch that she co-starred with Patricia Arquette and Ewan McGregor. She also played in many television series such as Conrad Bloom, Townies, Seinfeld, 3rd rock from the sun, M.Y.O.B., Law and Order, Caroline in the city, and News Radio. She appeared onstage at the Williamstown Theatre Festival starring in the company “Once in a lifetime.”

And now, here are some quotes by none other than Miss Lauren Graham.

“One of the things I like about the show is it redefines the idea of what it is to be a mother, which at its most basic level is to take care of your child. It doesn’t mean you have to look like the ladies in the Lysol Commercials.”

“Growing up as an only child with a single parent is probably why I’m an actress”

About sharing the same initials with her character.

“It means that if the show gets cancelled, I keep all the monogrammed towels.”
