    Bode Miller, age 28, of Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, is an experienced skier, with a few Olympic appearances.  He did not finish the slalom and giant slalom in 1998, but in 2002 he won a silver in the giant slalom competition.  Two of Millers runs at the 2002 Olympics where the most thrilling in history.

 

   Hannah Teter, age 18, of Blemont, Vermont had four older brothers who give her inspiration.  Teter was the first women snowboarder to complete a 900 (2 1/2 spins) while only being fifteen.  She said, "I'd be watching the boys and man they were good. then I'd watch the girls and think they aren't that good.  So she stepped up her game.
 

    Shawn White is a growing snowboarder.  White turned pro at 13.  He was the first to compete in the Summer and Winter X-games.  He faces tough competition of Olympic Medallists Ross Powers, J. J Thomas, and Danny Kass.  This will be the first time Shawn White goes to the Olympics.

 

 

    Shani Davis, age 23, of Chicago, Illinois is a good speed skater.  At the Torino Games, Davis hopes to trade in his golden arches with a gold medal.  Davis is the favorite to win the 1,000 meter-long-track competition.  Davis's goal for Torino is: "I want to win."

 

 

    Sasha Cohen, age 21, known's how to charm the judges.  Cohen is the wild card in the ladies'  field.  Cohen is athletic, graceful, and has flawless techniques.  Cohen is often a favorite, but had never won a major title to this day.  The highest Sasha has finished is second.

 

 

Team USA's hopes of winning gold will come down to goal tending from Rick DiPiertro.  DiPietrro, age 24, goal tends for the New York Islanders.  Rick says, "The Olympics are the Ultimate".

 

   Apolo Ohno has been setting his goals high since the 2002 games.  Apolo has said, " I want to be the Michael Jordan of speed skating."  Ohno won two medals at the 2002 games.   Apolo Ohno has made some tuff decisions in the past.  He has turned his attitude around and decided to stay with speed skating.
 
 

    Hyo-Jung Kim could end a drought.  This is a drought of no medals in the Women's Short Track since 1994, for the USA.  This 17 year-old has trained thoroughly for this.  She has only been speed skating for 6 years.  Speed skating is the only sport she has competed in.
