VOLLEYBALL

There are six players on the court at a time. The object of the game is to hit the ball over the net. The most a ball can be hit on one side of the court is three times. One player can not hit the ball twice in a row. The first team to get 25 points wins the match. And you must win by at least 2 points. It is best out of three matches and in the third match you play to 15 points.

Faults:

  • Touching the net at anytime
  • Stepping on or over the end line while serving
  • Stepping over the center line
  • Catching or throwing the ball
  • Hitting the ball more tan three times on a side
  • Blocking when you are in back row position
  • Spiking when you are in back row position
  • Serving when it is not your turn

Serving

Play starts with a serve; one player hits the ball directly over the net into the other teams’ court. You can do a couple of different types of serves. There is the under hand serve, which is common with younger children. The overhand serve is slightly more difficult and common in older girls who have more control of the ball.

Passing

The players pass the ball to each other to get a good set and a strong hit. The forearm pass, also known as the bump pass is most popular.

Setting

A set is the action between a pass and a hit to send the ball over the net. The setter is supposed to hit the second ball.
