Adrian Young joined No Doubt taking the place of John. Gwen began to take over the lead vocals. Getting Gwen to sing lead vocals took a lot of encouragement from the other band members. The band finally completed their line up. No Doubt started to develop their own sound and stage presence that was extremely energetic and fun like the music they played. The band didn’t have very much faith that they would breakthrough into the music mainstream, so they all attended college and had back up plans for the future. |

Eventually, No Doubt was signed to a record label and released their debut album that was simply titled No Doubt. The debut didn’t attract very much attention because the mainstream style of music was grunge (e.g. Nirvana). Next, No Doubt took matters into their own hands and released another album independently. It was titled The Beacon Street Collection. Soon following, Eric Stefani quit No Doubt. He pursued the career of becoming an animator instead.
