ITG is a newer version of DDR developed by Roxor Games. The arrows in this game are totally different, the techniques are different, the graphics of the menus are different, and obviously the song selection is different.
In ITG, there are a few new things you can do during game play. You can hit mines, which deduct points from your score. You will have to use “hands” in which you’ll have to bend down from the game to hit a sensor with your hands. A four-arrow jump happens every once in a while, when you have to jump up and hit all four arrow sensors at the same time. Having hands & mines definitely make the game play more difficult.
Introduced in “In The Groove 2” (only available at arcades), there are rolls. Rolls are like freeze arrows except you have to hit the arrows in a roll every 0.3 seconds. Although rolls are definitely a good modification to the game play, they are only used in about 6 songs.

ITG has a grading scale which greatly differs from DDR’s original grading scale. There are F’s, D’s, C’s, B’s, A’s, S’s, 1, 2, 3, and 4 stars. There are more than listed here.

Along with the new grading scale, there are also different grades you can get for the arrows.

In The Groove has some of the hardest songs on any version of DDR. The hardest song on ITG 2 is VerTex2. VerTex2 features some of the hardest steps. In it, you have to do some rapid steps on one foot. The hardest song on ITG is probably VerTex (original song). The fastest song is on ITG2, which is called “Robotix”. Robotix speeds up to 1337 BPM.

On ITG, you can get one of the following judgments when you hit an arrow: (these are color coded to match the color of the judgment text!)
Fantastic! - best judgment
Excellent! - second best judgment
Great! - OK judgment
Decent - decent judgment, breaks combo
Way off - horrible judgment, breaks combo and reduces life from the life meter
Miss - totally off, worst judgment, breaks combo, reduces a large bit of life from the life meter.
