Party hats are the most expensive and sought after items in all of RuneScape. They, along with other holiday-given items are very coveted by players, though few exist. This makes them very expensive: for example, Party Hats can go for over 100Mil. Shown here are all of the Party Hats in RuneScape. Some holiday items that are not shown include: Scythe, Red, Green, and Blue Halloween Masks, Santa Hat, Pumpkin, Easter Egg, Bunny Ears, Yo-yo, Marionette, Rubber Chicken, and various holiday hats and scarves. |

Rare items are only obtainable by extremely rare drops from various monsters throughout RuneScape. There are a select few of these items in RuneScape, for not many players are lucky enough to have them as drops. Some players, however, purchase them from others. Shown here is a player in full dragon armor (all currently existing pieces) and that is wielding the powerful Abyssal Whip. The dragon legs can be dropped by metal dragons, the chain mail can be dropped by Dust Devils or the Kalphite Queen, the medium helmet can be dropped by many high level monsters, and half of the square shield can be dropped (in an amazingly rare drop) by all creatures in RuneScape that can also drop gems. The other half of the shield can be purchased at the Legends Guild (for 750,000gp) and smelted with the other piece to create the full square shield (requires 60 smithing).

There are many items in RuneScape that are only given to players upon completing a quest (or multiple quests). These items are often very powerful and coveted. Most of them have a unique look and are not able to be traded among players. Shown here is a player wearing a Cape of Legends and holding a Dark Dagger, which are only obtainable after completing the Legends Quest.

Clue scrolls are rare drops from monsters that send players on long “treasure trails” in search of reward. They are very tiring and some may take days to solve. Included in the hunt can be mazes, sliding puzzles, small diagrams, word puzzles, anagrams, or degree measurements. After deciphering the various clues, players dig at a designated site or search in a chest/crate for the prize. The reward is often a special item that is only obtainable from these “treasure trails”. Shown here is a warrior in Rune (t) armor, one of the sets of trimmed armor that is only found from clues.

There are some items in RuneScape that are given to players by random events. These events happen to players rarely and often the rewards are not good items, they just have appealing looks. Demons, hunters, mimes, and frogs are just a few of the non-player characters (npcs) that can appear in random events. Shown here is a player in a full mime’s outfit from one of these events.

In the easternmost area of RuneScape, there lies an ancient graveyard known as the Barrows. There is a crumbling tome there that explains a legend of six mighty heroes that fell in battle. They are buried in mounds of earth here that can be dug up by players. Upon entering one of the crypts and searching a coffin, players are attacked by one of the ghosts of the six warrior brothers. If they are lucky enough to slay all of them, they can be rewarded with a piece of one of their armor sets or weapons. Pictured below are all six sets of Barrows armor (or robes in Ahrim’s case) that bestow special powers on players if they are lucky enough to own a full set.
