Mario has been around for about 30 years. Around when Super Nintendo Entertainment system came out the Mario Kart came out. Which started the whole Mario Kart series. Mario Kart has been in three other game system including this one. The Mario Kart DS came brigs lots of new features to the series.

The Mario Kart DS game takes full advantage of the two screens. The top screen is your racer (which you choose) and the bottom one is the map of the course, the places of every racer, and a close up of the map. It also shows the time you raced.

There are many characters for Mario Kart Ds. There are Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Wario, Bowser, Toad, Peach, Walugi, Shyguy, And R.O.B.

Mario is in the medium weight class. He is familiar to all racers around the world. With a balanced of abilities he is a racer suited to all situations.

Mario's younger brother Luigi is ready to race. Luigi has superb traction so it makes it harder for him to spin out. Luigi is in the middle weight class.

Peach is a generally gentle princess, but the heart of competing burns deep inside her. She is adept at drifting. Peach is in the light weight class. And often you would see her flying past you.

Yoshi is usually ridden by Mario, but this time he's ready to race. Yoshi has excellent traction and is in the light weight class.

Toad was and still is a favorite in the Mario Kart series. Toad uses his tiny stature to his advantage as he skillfully weaves in and out of traffic on the truck.

Donkey Kong, a.k.a. Dk, Overwhelms opponents with his jungle instincts. He drifts through corners like a mad man...or a mad ape. Dk is in the heavy weight class and is a classic character.

Mario's arch enemy is a superb at using his drifting skill to race through curves. Bowser is a feared racer and will stomp on his enemies just to win. Bowser is in the heavy weight class and should be feared by everyone.

As his name implies, he's the anti hero to Mario's heroism. Other than acceleration, he has no foil. Wario is completely opposite of Mario and is a great racer. He is in the Heavy weight class.

Shy Guy stares out from behind his mask, his gaze revealing the hidden weakness of his opponents. Shy Guy appears only in the Nintendo DS Download Play matches. Shy Guy is in the light weight class.
