LynnSwan                                   Lynn Swann played wide receiver for the Steelers from 1974-1982.  Not only was he in all four of the Super Bowls we won but he was MVP of Super Bowl X.  When he was on the field his focus was solely devoted to the football until the whistle blew.  That was what made him a great.  Lynn Swann was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001 and is now running for governor of Pennsylvania.

Steel Curtain                                 The “steel curtain” originated from the Steelers stellar defensive line, but after picking up Hall of Fame linebackers Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, and Mike Webster combined with cornerback Rod Woodson and safety Mel Blount it became the entire defense.  Together they were the best defense in the league.

Terry Bradshaw                Terry Bradshaw played quarterback for the Steelers from 1970-1983.  He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989.  Early in his career he struggled, but in 1975 he led the Steelers to their first Super Bowl victory.  Although he didn’t get along with head coach Chuck Knoll, he always started.  But he wasn’t done yet, before retiring he managed to lead the Steelers to three more Super Bowl victories.

Super Bowls                                          Super bowl IX was the Steelers first Super Bowl win, defeating the Vikings 16-6.  In the third quarter we led 9-0. But with ten minutes left, they scored their first touchdown off of a blocked punt.  But they failed to make the extra point, making the score 9-6 Steelers.  The next drive, the Steelers marched down the field for a touchdown making it 16-6. We held Minnesota to an astounding 17 yards rushing, setting the Super Bowl record.  The next year in Super Bowl X we barely defeated the Cowboys 27-17. Three years after that, in Super Bowl XIII, we pulled of another close game against Dallas, winning 35-31.  The following year, in Super Bowl XIV, we trampled Rams 31-19 despite the four interceptions thrown by Terry Bradshaw. Sixteen years later we weren't so fortunate.  The Cowboys finally got their payback and defeated us 27-17.

Chuck Knoll                                 Chuck knoll was head coach of the Steelers for 22 years, leading us to four of our five Super Bowl victories.  He inspired and motivated the players and was the most Successful head coach in the NFL of all time.
