Shania Twain was born in Canada on August 28, 1965. She was raised in Timmins, Ontario and the second oldest of five siblings. While growing up, Shania often grabbed the guitar and would sing and write until her fingers ached. Her mother would take her to radio and TV. shows, community centers, and senior citizens' homes. But, at age 21 Shania lost her parents in a n auto wreck. As a result of losing her parents, Shania took the responsibility of her three younger siblings to live with her. In 1990, Eilleen, the name that Shania was born with, changed her name to Shania the Ojibway name meaning ''I'm on my way.'' Eventually Shania's hard work and love of music paid off. A demo tape of the original music lead her to Nashville. |
