The great ballpark Fenway Park opened on April 20, 1912. It was the second home for the Red Sox. It was named Fenway because it was in the Fenway section of Boston The first game was scheduled for April 9th but it was rained out. In the home opener the Red Sox beat the New York highlanders 7-6 in 11 innings.

The game would have made the FrontPage but the Titanic sank a few days earlier. Fenway remained the same until May 8, 1926 when a fire destroyed the left field bleachers. Tom Yawkey bought the club in 1933 and immediately started to renovate the park. On January 5, 1934 fire raged for 5 hours in the park. So construction workers had to work fast so the park would be ready for the season opener on April17, 1934.

Fenway had taken on a new look the bleachers were metal. There is a 37 foot wall in left. This wall is called the Green Monster for its size and color. The bullpens were 23 feet closer which was named Williamsburg because Ted Williams hit so many home runs there. In 1947 lights were installed on top of the park. In 2003 bleachers were installed on the green monster. There is still a manual scoreboard used.

There have been many different sports teams to play in Fenway. In 1914 the Boston braves played some of their games in Fenway. The New England Patriots played games there to before they moved to Foxborgh. So overall Fenway Park is considered a cathedral when it comes to Boston and baseball.
