| history The history of the ninja is difficult to trace. That is because there were few, if any, records remain of its existence. |
| The art of stealth or nonuse was introduced to Japan in 522 A.D. while being practiced as a religion by priests. These priests were not violent people. Ninjas were not introduced until later. In 645 A.D., priests perfected their fighting skills and used their nonuse knowledge. This was because they were being harassed by the central government. |
