Training Being a ranger is 100% voluntary. When a ranger first starts training it’s very hopeful that they pass the long and difficult physical test. They must spend 3 weeks at a parachute school. After they can parachute successfully they are sent to 3 more weeks of training. Once a Ranger passes he can join the 75th Ranger Regiment. The final step is a 62 day long Ranger school. After completion they are awarded a patch for their left shoulder. |

Transportation Rangers use Air force planes to parachute to targets. Also the army transports them in helicopters. The Rangers spend a lot of time practicing getting out of the helicopter and on land. This is important because when the helicopter drops them off the don’t land they hover above and the Rangers slide down on long ropes. During some missions they use motorcycles to get around.

Ranger Missions Ranger missions only last a few days, but the rangers are required to take five days worth of food. After they finish one mission they start to train for the next one. Normal Ranger missions are capture and destroy. They also rescue people or destroy ammunition supplies behind enemy lines. Rangers use tactical placement with parachuting during raids to surprise the enemy. Once they go in they depend on other military units for cover.
