In 1891, James Naismith at the International YMCA Training School in a Springfield, Massachusetts created the game basketball. With a soccer ball, a peach basket, and an empty basketball court it came to life. He created the game of basketball to help pass time for college during the long cold winters in New England

Some rules of basketball that is important to know. You are not allowed to push, slap, elbow, punch, or hold someone with your hands. That would be a foul, once you have 5 fouls you are not allowed to play for the rest of the game. If you want to move while holding the ball you have to dribble, if you walk with the ball it's a travel.

There are five positions in basketball, a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. The 1 is a point guard he/she dribbles the ball up court and shouts the plays they are about to run. The 2 and 3 are guards they help the point guard bring up the ball. The number 4 is a forward he/she is able to take out-side shots and drive to the basket. The 5 player is the senor he/she is the biggest or the tallest person they are usually by the hoop to receive a pass from someone and take it to the hoop.

The senor Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves had 1, 817 points in the 04-05 season and had 1,108 rebounds that year. The guard for Miami Heat, Dwayne Wade, scored1, 854 points last year and had 520 assists in the 04-05 season. The guard Allen Iverson of Philadelphia 76ers scored 2,302 points! Also, had 597 assists during the season.

Last year in the 04-05 the San Antonio Spurs won a lot of games with the help of the three musketeers Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Emmanuel Ginoboli. The each of Miami Heat, Stan Van Gunay, coached Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O'Neal by telling them to work as a team, which helped them through the season.

So many legends of basketball, Michael Jordan was and will stay the best basketball player in history. He attended UNC and won the 1982 NCAA Championship game by the winning shot. Jordan played a shooting guard for the Chicago Bulls for thirteen seasons. He ended his career with 30,000 points. Also, Kevin Garnett, he is the only basketball player in 20 years to go right into the NBA from high school. He was named Mr. Basketball of the year for is grand total 2,533 points, 1,807 rebounds and 739 blocked shots.
