The first comic strip that featured Charlie Brown, the very start of the Peanuts, was released on October 2, 1950.The comic strip above is an exact replica of the first one. This introduces Charlie Brown, along with two other characters that are unnamed in the comic. One of the characters in the strip says that he hates Charlie Brown. We are unsure why, but Charlie Brown looks very happy while walking down the street. |

Snoopy was the next character introduced. His comic debuted on October 4, 1950, just two days after Charlie Brown. Snoopy's comic tells us about his personality a little more than Charlie Brown's does for him. Snoopy looks very happy until water is dumped on him. He uses punctuation, rather than words, to convey what he is saying. Notice that the girl pouring the water out the window is the same girl who appeared in Charlie Brown's comic strip. |

In Schroeder's comic strip, which debuted on May 30, 1951, he is introduced as an infant. The girl who is unnamed takes Charlie Brown to meet him. Not much information can be gained from this comic because Schroeder is just a baby. However, Schroeder eventually grows older and you can learn a lot about his personality. |

Lucy's comic debuted on March 3, 1952. In her comic, she is jumping rope. Charlie Brown is there and hears Lucy saying "one" over and over again. So, he yells for her to say two. Lucy looked very different when we first met her, especially her facial features. There isn't much of a description about her personality that we can pick up from her comic strip, but later in the strips, we get to know her a lot better. |

The debut of Linus was on September 19, 1952, a little less than six months after Lucy. Lucy is telling Charlie Brown that she finally got her little brother to sit up. When they walk over to Linus, we notice that Lucy nailed boards around him so that he would stay up. Linus, like Schroeder, was also introduced as a baby. Since he obviously can't talk, we don't know what his personality is like yet. |

Pigpen was released on July 13, 1954. The girl that introduced Charlie Brown to us also introduced Pigpen. When we see that one of the characters is very, very dirty, right off the bat we know that it is Pigpen. In this comic, Pigpen is meeting a girl and he plainly tells her that he doesn't have a name, and that people just call him Pigpen. |

Sally debuted on August 22, 1960, about a month shy of ten years after Charlie Brown, her older brother, first appeared. Ever since the day she debuted, Sally has had a crush on Linus, which she shows us in this comic. Linus is screaming to everyone that Sally is walking. When he runs away, she calls him cute. You can quickly see that she is clever. She wanted Linus to notice her because she was walking and it worked. |

Peppermint Patty was introduced on August 22, 1966, exactly six years after Sally. Peppermint Patty is talking to a boy named Roy, who is not one of the twelve original characters. She is telling him to tell his friend that she is good at baseball, which she is. We can tell from her first comic that she is a big tomboy who loves baseball and dresses boyish. Peppermint Patty's features have stayed the same throughout the years and look the same as she did in 1966. |

Woodstock's debut comic appeared on April 4, 1967. Snoopy is lying on his doghouse and Woodstock flies by and crashes on Snoopy's nose. The two of them immediately bond and Woodstock quickly falls asleep on top of Snoopy's nose. From this time on, Snoopy and Woodstock are almost always side-by-side. They were best friends from the beginning. Woodstock has a big personality that goes along with Snoopy's wild thinking and actions. You can see how different Woodstock looked back then. |

Marcie's comic strip debuted on June 18, 1968. In this comic, Marcie is being introduced to Peppermint Patty for the first time. Marcie and a couple of other girls are at a camp and Peppermint Patty is their tent monitor. You can see right away why Marcie calls Peppermint Patty "Sir". Marcie is a little intimidated by Peppermint Patty, and so are the two other girls that are unmentioned with Marcie. |

Franklin is the second-to-last character to debut in the comics. The date his comic came out was July 31, 1968. Franklin is actually the same age as Charlie Brown; he just went to a different school. The two pals met at the beach when Franklin found Charlie Brown's beach ball and was returning it to him. They instantly became friends and Franklin appears more often in later comics. |

And last, but certainly not least, we have Rerun. His comic debuted on March 26, 1973, making Rerun the youngest character in the Peanuts comic strips. Rerun is Lucy's second youngest brother, Linus being older than him. Lucy wants to take Rerun for a walk with her for the first time. He is not very impressed with nature. Rerun is often mistaken for Linus, but the two are completely different characters, they just come from the same family. |
