Practicing and Competing

Practices*
Normal practices are two hours long, five days a week. There are no practices on the weekend. At the practice you first do warm up and then the main set. Then warm down and a few sets in between. One lap is 25 meters long. So a 100 is four laps. Some times they play games at a practice. Sometimes they have pep talks. Also during the sets/drills you can use equipment to help you on your stroke.

What is Required For Practice*
Usually what you need to bring/wear to practice is a bathing suit of course. You also need a cap and goggles and a towel to dry yourself off. Some people wear sandals because there are many germs in the world. You don’t have to bring equipment. The team/recreation provides them for you. Some people drink a water bottle to drink between sets.

Competing*
When you go to a meet you compete, you usually go an hour before the meet there is usually two secessions. There is the morning secession and the afternoon secession. It depends what age group you’re in. There are officials and timers. The officials are there to watch you and make sure you doing your strokes right. The times are there to time you while you’re racing. At the meet for having it organized, there is one event and then there are heats for how ever many people enter that event and there are six people in each heat.

What is Required For Competing*
For swim meets you always want to stay and keep your muscles warm. So most people wear sweat pants or shorts and a jacket. Of course you would need a swim suit. You mostly want to wear a tight one cause the water glides right passed you when you’re swimming. You also need goggles to see and a swim cap for your hair. Most people like to wear sandals with a rough grip on the bottom because everywhere is going to be wet and you don’t want to slip. Also most people have something to drink with them. Of course you need a bag to keep your cloths and towel in. Well this isn’t required but a lot of people like to have electronics to listen to or watch in between their events.
