Cheerleading is as much visual as verbal, so you should use lots of hand, arm, and leg motions to choreograph your cheer.  You may also want to start incorporation some basic stunting into your cheerleading.

Stunts can be thought about in to broad categories.  There are partner stunts, which involve two people, and mounts, which involve three or more people.

Here are three basic partner stunts to get you started.

Before you trying any stunting, you should always have an expert coach or trainer watching, and always use spotters.  Stunting can be extremely dangerous, and even a stunt that looks very simple and safe can cause injury if done improperly.  Don’t take any chances.  Cheer safely.

The base is the bottom person in the stunt whose feet will be on the ground.  The base supports the flyer, so it’s important that the base be strong and able to stay still and balanced at all times.

The position of base in Cheerleading is vital, for without bases the flyer wouldn't go up. The bases lift or throw the flyer and as the name implies, they are the base or foundation of a Cheerleading stunt or mount.

The flyer sometimes called the “mounter,” is the person who is elevated into the air.  The flyer tends to be smaller and lighter than the base, and needs to have excellent body control.  The flyer needs to be aware of where the body weight is at all times.  The flyer should never be pushing or pulling the base off balance.
