The Great Golden

            Golden Retrievers, which are categorized as a hunting and retrieving dog, have many other uses. The dog can be used to assist disabled or blind individuals, rescue victims of disaster, and can be a beloved family pet.

The Origin

            The Golden Retriever originated in Britain in the 19^th century. The breed is a combination of a yellow puppy born of a litter of Black Labradors and a Newfoundland. It is also possible that it was bred again with a Water Spaniel so the dog would inherit their signature water-proof coat.

Qualities

This bred of dog is known to be extremely trustworthy, loyal, and friendly. They like to be praised by their owners, and the canines’ number one goal in life is to make their master happy and fulfill their requests.

Appearance

As you can see, the Goldens have a beautiful water-proof coat that has medium length. It varies in color from deep auburn to a light or platinum blonde. They have ears that flop and have a black, cold nose with a protruding snout. Many believe it is the most attractive dog.

My Opinion

            I think the Golden Retriever is the perfect dog because they are playful, athletic, and intelligent. They would make any family complete.

The Good Swimmers

            These dogs are superb swimmers and they give the dog paddle a new definition. Their water-proof coat comes in handy in this particular incidence. This also gives them plenty of exercise.

Companions

            The dog in this picture is carrying gear for the 13 year old boy in Colorado. Although it isn’t shown in this picture, the more fit Golden Retrievers can carry a decent amount of weight.

Hunting Dogs

            Once again, these dogs were bred for hunting. Throwing and catching a Frisbee stimulates gun hunting. It is relatively alike to when a game bird is shot and the dog retrieves it. So this uses a lot of instinct.
