Collies

      There are numerous kinds of Collies around the world such as the Border, Bearded, Rough haired, and Farm Collie. They are each very energetic. They are medium sized with a wide skull with a distinct stop. They have perky ears and range in color from black and white to tan and white. They also have a dark eyes and a bushy tail.

 

 

Characteristics

      The collie is a very intelligent and responsive dog and excels in obedience and agility. Although the dog is sensitive, it is trainable. They thrive on praise.

 

Lassie

      A famous Collie well known in the United States is Lassie. Lassie always watched out for people and came to the rescue quite a few times. Collies are used in like this in actual reality. Collies are often used in rescue missions like the other dog of this Web Page.

 

Original Use

      Collies were originally used to herd sheep on farms. Collies have a passion for performing and this was perfect for them.

 

My Opinion

      I think the Collie would make a great family pet because of their kindness and athletic character.

 

 

Growth Expectancy

      The male Collie grows to about 19-22 inches while the female grows to 18-21 inches. The males expected weight is between 30-45 pounds and the female grows to weigh about 27-42 pounds.

 

 

Health Problems

      Some health problems the Collie can get are hip dysplasia and Collie Eye Anomaly. Some can be allergic to fleas and are prone to epilepsy and deafness.

 

More Problems

      The Collie is not recommended for apartment living. Lack of exercise can lead to the dog challenging it's owners authority and suffering from depression.
