A Dolphin like humans is a mammal. They have teeth, like humans too. They eat mostly Squid and fish depending on where they live and what is available to them there. Dolphins don’t use their teeth to chew. They swallow their food whole.

A dolphin’s appearance varies by its type such as the long beaked common dolphin has a longer beak than the short beaked common dolphin. A dolphin has a gray black color. They dolphins stomach is a creamy white. A common length for a dolphin is a seven to eight and a half feet long. An average weight is one hundred fifty five pounds to two hundred forty five pounds. Male dolphins are larger. A dolphin has a fin called a dorsal fin located on their middle back. The dolphin fins are normally dark. That is the dolphin’s appearance.

 

            

 

A dolphin is able to reproduce at the age of three to four years old or when it grows six to seven feet long. A female dolphin gives birth every two years. Dolphins normally mate in the spring.

Dolphins have many habitats. Such as harbors, bays, lagoons, gulfs, and estuaries. Dolphins don’t stay at the same place though. If it is cold or there is not enough food where they live  dolphins may migrate. Dolphins can live in salt and fresh water. Now you know about the dolphin’s habitat.

  

  A dolphin’s lifespan on average age to live is twenty or less. Dolphins have lived to an age of forty eight years old though.  Age is estimated by how many layers are in a dolphins tooth.
